Brief – Re design existing area to connect & open up more to the outside, and allow for larger kitchen & new living/dining area with gas fireplace.
The existing U shaped kitchen was located in the back corner of the room and felt small in proportion to the space. There was a large supporting post in the middle that blocked the view to the outside. This was removed, as well as a small window, and new large sliding doors spanning the length of the room were installed.
The kitchen was relocated to the opposite side and a new stud wall allowed for a new butler pantry.
The gas fireplace with stone cladding is centred in the room, and custom cabinetry allows for plenty of storage. The lounge/TV area was moved to the adjacent dining area to create a separate zone as the clients were keen to ensure this space did not become the central TV zone. Shaker cabinetry was designed in the kitchen with V-Groove on the new butler pantry wall & back of island to give the space a coastal touch.
